What is the difference between the application of inoue foam with different thickness in new energy vehicles?

The application differences of inoue foam with different thicknesses in new energy vehicles are as follows:

Very thin thickness (0.2-0.5mm)

Insulation and shock absorption of electronic components: In the electronic control system of new energy vehicles, such as the printed circuit board in the control unit such as ECU, extremely thin foam on the well can be used to isolate different electronic components to prevent short circuit and electromagnetic interference, and its good shock absorption performance can also protect the components from the impact of vehicle vibration.

Battery diaphragm protection: In the battery, ultra-thin foam can be used as an auxiliary material for the diaphragm to prevent the diaphragm from being damaged due to extrusion or vibration during battery charging and discharging, and ensure the normal operation and safety of the battery.

Thin thickness (0.5-2mm)

Thermal buffering between cells in the battery pack: In the battery pack, thin foam is needed for thermal insulation and buffering between cells, so as to prevent the thermal expansion and contraction of cells during charging and discharging from affecting each other, and at the same time, it can absorb the tiny vibration generated when the cells work and protect the cells from being damaged.

Line protection and fixing: The wire harness and connector in the car can be wrapped and fixed with thin foam on the well, which can protect the line and prevent abrasion and pulling, and at the same time, it can reduce the influence of vibration on the line connection to a certain extent and ensure the stable transmission of electrical signals.

Medium thickness (2-5mm)

Sealing and support of battery pack: At the sealing part of battery pack's shell, medium-thickness inoue foam can be made into sealing strip, which is used to fill the gap between battery pack and car body or other parts to prevent dust and moisture from entering the battery pack and improve the sealing and safety of battery pack. In addition, it can also be used as an auxiliary supporting material in the battery pack, which is placed between the battery module and the battery pack shell to provide a certain supporting force for the battery module and prevent it from shifting during the running of the vehicle.

Shock absorption and sound insulation of interior parts: In interior systems, such as door trim panels and instrument panels, foam with medium thickness can be used for shock absorption and sound insulation. It can effectively absorb the vibration and noise generated during vehicle running, reduce the spread of noise in the vehicle and improve the comfort in the vehicle.

Thickness (5-10mm)

Seat comfort improvement: In the seat design of new energy vehicles, thicker inoue foam can be used to fill the backrest and cushion of the seat. According to the principle of ergonomics, it can provide better waist and hip support for drivers and passengers, reduce the fatigue of long-term riding and improve the comfort of the seat.

Shock absorption and noise reduction of body structural parts: In some key structural parts of the body, such as the connection point between the frame and the body and the installation point of the suspension system, thicker foam can be used for shock absorption and noise reduction. It can effectively absorb and block the vibration and noise generated during the running of the vehicle, improve the comfort and stability of the vehicle, and also help to prolong the service life of the body structure.

Thickness (above 10mm)

Heavy cushioning for special parts: In some special application scenarios, such as logistics and transportation of new energy vehicles or engineering vehicles, for parts that need to bear large impact, thick foam of more than 10mm can be used for heavy cushioning. For example, laying thick foam at the bottom of the vehicle's cargo box or inside the toolbox can effectively protect goods or tools from the impact of vehicle bumps and vibrations.

Vibration isolation and support of large-scale equipment: For some large-scale equipment carried on new energy vehicles, such as charging piles and energy storage equipment, thick foam can be used as vibration isolation and support materials and placed between the equipment and the vehicle body to reduce the impact of vibration generated by equipment operation on the vehicle, and at the same time ensure the stability and safety of the equipment during vehicle driving.
