What are the requirements of new energy vehicles for the flame retardancy of Rogers foam?

New energy vehicles have the following requirements for the flame retardancy of Rogers foam:

In terms of flame retardant grade

Reach UL94 V-0 grade: This is a higher standard requirement for the flame retardancy of foam in the new energy automobile industry. For example, ultra-light and high flame retardant silicone foam should meet the UL94 V-0 grade standard, and it can extinguish itself in a short time after being ignited, and there is no burning dripping, which can effectively prevent the fire from spreading and protect the battery pack and other parts in the car from the fire threat.

Limiting oxygen index

High oxygen index: LOI should be greater than 27, which belongs to the category of flame retardant materials. It means that Rogers foam is not easy to burn in a high oxygen concentration environment, which can ensure the fire safety of the car under various working conditions to a certain extent.

In terms of combustion characteristics

Low smoke and non-toxic: the amount of smoke generated during combustion is less, and the amount of toxic gas released is extremely low. This can reduce the emission of harmful substances at the fire site, reduce the damage to the people in the car and rescuers, and gain time for evacuation and rescue work.

No droplet: There should be no droplet phenomenon in the combustion process, so as to prevent droplets from falling and igniting other combustible materials, expand the fire range and further improve the fire safety.

High temperature resistance

Good high-temperature resistance: it can withstand the high temperature generated by new energy vehicles under normal operation and special circumstances, and can withstand high flame temperature for a long time without being burned through. It can still maintain structural stability and flame retardant performance in extreme high-temperature scenes such as battery thermal runaway, and play a role in blocking heat transfer.

Flame retardant and durability

Long-term stable flame retardant: Rogers foam should maintain stable flame retardant performance throughout the service life of new energy vehicles. Even after long-term high and low temperature cycles, humidity and other complex environmental tests, as well as multiple charging and discharging cycles and other working conditions, its flame retardant performance can not be significantly reduced, ensuring that the safety of the car in the use process will not be threatened by the reduction of flame retardant of foam.
